About
Welcome to The Writing Mamas © ! We’re a group of mothers originally from around the country, but who now reside in the picturesque Bay Area of California in Marin County. Dawn Yun, an author and journalist, founded the salon some six years ago so mothers could have a time and place to write, whine and wine.
On the second Sunday of each month (unless otherwise noted) we gather at the iconic bookstore Book Passage in Corte Madera, Marin County, from 5-8 p.m. We bond, write, hear a speaker, and work shop our words, offering gentle advice and helpful encouragement.
When you join The Writing Mamas Salon, you learn to improve your writing, have a nurturing place to receive feedback, learn marketing techniques, and obtain publishing leads for articles and essays.
You will also have the opportunity to perform your writing in public during our popular “Mama Monologues.” The profits from our readings are donated to charity. And we always conclude with a well-known writer who becomes an honorary Writing Mama.
We also have retreats where we unwind, write and relax. You’ll find that members will become some of your best friends because The Writing Mamas salon is the ultimate mothers’ club.
If you live in the Bay Area (we also have members who come from as far as Sacramento, Sonoma and San Jose) and wish to join the Writing Mamas Salon, we would love to have you as a member. Sign up on the Book Passage website. Or call 415.927.0960.
