Aspiring writers often ask — how do I get published? First you write, then you connect.
The Writing Mamas Salon is blessed to be based in the Bay Area of California, a literary hotbed of writers, editors and agents, many of
whom are mothers.

Their words are profoundly inspiring.
You can see them on the fourth Sunday of every month (unless otherwise noted) in an intimate setting at Book Passage in Corte Madera from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

They are insightful, informative and LOL!

Here’s our line-up of rocking Writing Mamas Salon speakers!
January 27 Monique Peterson, editor-in-chief of the Website DivineCaroline. She has written or edited some 100 books including In the Realm of the Never Fairies and Extreme Sports: Bike!
February 24 Samantha Schoech and Lisa Taggart, editors and authors of The Bigger, The Better, the Tighter the Sweater, Tied in Knots, and other books.
March 30 (fifth Sunday) C.W. Nevius, long-time columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle is also the author of Crouching Father, Hidden Toddler. Note: Husbands may be interested in this one, too.
April 27 Anne Packer is the best-selling author of Song Without Words and The Dive Off Clausen’s Pier.
May 25 Ellen Sussman, author of On a Night Like This and editor of Bad Girls: 26 Writers Misbehave, and Lolly Winston, author of Good Grief and Happiness Sold Separately.
June 22 Note: Special appearance on June 15 (third Sunday in June) with noted literary agent Randi Murray, whose clients include NPR’s Ira Glass and Joyce Maynard. This is an opportunity to talk to a local agent who is affiliated with a New York City agency and pitch your books and ideas in an intimate setting. Yes, this is Father’s Day, but go out with your significant other for lunch, make sure you give him “special” gifts, and then do something for you, your writing and your career. If you have a book in you, here’s a wonderful agent to talk with about it.
July 27 Rachel Naomi Remen, storyteller and author of Kitchen Table Wisdom and My Grandfather’s Blessing.
August 24 Laura Fraser, journalist and author of An Italian Affair and Losing It.
September 28 Melanie Haiken, full-time freelance journalist who has written for Parenting, Health, Real Simple, Ladies Home Journal, and Prevention.
October 26 Rebecca Foust, an award-winning poet whose work has appeared in Atlanta Review and North American Review, and is the author of Dark Card.
November 23 Oliver Chin, owner of Immedium, a children’s books publisher. He is also an author of several books including The Adventures of Wonderbaby.
December 14 Susannah French, was an early member of The Writing Mamas Salon. She had never been published. Her first children’s book will be out in 2009.
